As a Curriculum Lead, you will manage and guide the Design and Materials Engineering curriculum across our undergraduate and postgraduate courses. You will support staff in effective delivery of high-quality, up-to-date courses that are engaging, innovative and responsive.
You will have strategic responsibility for leading curriculum development and for managing the allocation of resources to ensure performance and growth targets are achieved in line with the University’s Corporate Strategy. You will be able to work across the course and module teams in order to ensure emerging state-of-the-art themes and technologies are incorporated within the curriculum.
The Design and Materials curriculum area has recently seen a £2.5M investment in equipment to support the delivery of rapid digital product development and manufacture of high precision products/component. This state of the art/industry standard equipment includes 3D scanners, Virtual Reality Powerwall, Metal Printers (Bound Powder Filament), Composite printers, 5-axis machining centre and 3D print recycling. The Curriculum Lead will be responsible for the integration of this new technology into the syllabus with a focus on practical experience for all students across Undergraduate, Postgraduate as well as specialist CPD courses.
You will have experience in the field of Design and Materials engineering to progress a system through key developmental phases.
You should have experience of key areas of Engineering Design, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering including Systems and Sustainable Design approaches and management, CAD/CAM, Quality Assurance, manufacturing technology and materials, QFD, DFx (including Design for Sustainability), LCA (GaBi or SimaPro) verification and validation techniques.
It would be highly advantageous to have a good understanding of how Design, Engineering Management and Materials & Manufacturing Engineering are aligned and contribute towards the wider portfolio of courses within the Mechanical Engineering School.
Also knowledge and practice of Systems Design and how sustainable approaches are embedded would be advantageous.
