The Department of History and Archaeology seeks to appoint a temporary, 7-month, 0.3 fte Lecturer in Modern History beginning in January 2024. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable experience of teaching at higher education level and a developing track record as a researcher in Modern History. The ability to cover topics relating to war, conflict and memory is essential.
You will have a good Honours Degree (normally 2.1 or First or equivalent) in History and a PhD in Modern History (or be working towards one). You will have HE teaching experience, a strong and versatile background to teaching Modern History and a capacity to deliver a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Modern History.
You may have experience of supervising undergraduate history dissertations on Modern History topics as well as an ability to enhance the MA and MRes postgraduate provision. You will have evidence of either publications on Modern History, or demonstrable evidence of work-in-progress towards such publications.
