The School of Arts, Language and Cultures at the University of Manchester invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time (1 FTE) temporary teaching-focused Lectureship in Psycholinguistics and Semantics, tenable from 2nd January 2024 until 31st July 2024, to provide cover for a colleague on leave.
You will convene and teach (on campus) one Level 2 course unit in Psycholinguistics, and contribute to first or second marking, and possibly teaching, of additional course units in Psycholinguistics and Semantics. The units are offered as part of the single honours Undergraduate programmes in Linguistics and English Language and joint honours programmes with either of these subjects, and of the MA Linguistics programme. You will be expected to teach lectures and seminars, to set assessment, to undertake all the marking, and to update existing course materials as well as a virtual learning environment on Blackboard. You will hold two office hours per week, and answer student queries by email and/or on the course units’ discussion boards. You may be asked to supervise a small number of MA dissertations. You will participate in recruitment activities, take on small administrative roles within the department, contribute to the management of a newly furbished Psycholinguistics Lab, and deliver pastoral care to students as academic advisor.
What you will get in return:
