Job summary

We are looking for a passionate individual to join the newly formed Student Support Team at Imperial College. This exciting role will lead and develop a new group of Student Support Advisers, specialising in harassment and sexual misconduct disclosures and casework. The role will also manage our Report & Support tool, ensuring that we are delivering an excellent service to our student users.

Working with the Head of Student Support the role holder will ensure investigations into student disclosures are carried out fairly, consistently and sensitively, and will ensure that risks are identified and dealt with appropriately. A principle aspect of the role is proactive training and awareness raising of key issues across the College. The role holder will also monitor and analyse trends and themes to contribute to our continuous service improvement.

You will be an experienced professional with proven specialist knowledge of the complexities of casework relating to sexual misconduct, domestic abuse, racism, bullying and other forms of harassment and hate crimes, with significant experience of conducting sensitive and complex investigations into allegations in relation to these areas.

An understanding of relevant legislation and the ability to deal with difficult situations and conversations are essential. You will be a strong team leader and have the ability to communicate at all levels.

Duties and responsibilities

You will be responsible for leading a team of Advisers within the Student Support Team, providing a high-quality advice service. You will work with staff across the College to enhance student support, as well as delivering targeted staff training and service improvement initiatives. You will be able to work without close supervision, as well as being a strong team player.

Essential requirements

  • Experience of managing an advice service or team
  • Experience of case management, including the use of case management systems, risk assessment management and quality assurance.
  • Experience of managing a service that provides support to individuals who have experienced bullying, harassment or sexual misconduct.
  • Experience of developing and managing projects to meet the strategic aims of the organisation/department.
  • Understanding of the complexities involved in the management of sensitive and confidential information
  • Understanding of trauma informed practise and the specific considerations needed when supporting individuals who have experienced bullying, harassment and sexual misconduct

Further information

The role is full time, open ended. The role will be based at Imperial College’s South Kensington Campus. Hybrid working may be considered for this role. At a minimum the role holder would be expected to spend 60% of their time onsite.
