The Department of Politics at Manchester wishes to appoint to a permanent Lectureship in British Politics (Teaching & Scholarship) from September 2024.
We wish to appoint an innovative, engaging and dynamic colleague who will be able to enhance the quality of our teaching and improve the student experience at Manchester. The candidate will be responsible for UG and PG units in British Politics. Amongst these units will be large and compulsory core units for Politics students. Your responsibility will be course design, formative and summative assessment design, Virtual Learning Environment design, delivery of large and small group teaching and coordination of the teaching team.
In addition to the teaching responsibilities the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to programme management and general teaching administration in the Politics department. They will also contribute to developing Politics resources relating to generic study and employability skills and will be involved in other administrative and pastoral duties. Career progression on the Teaching & Scholarship is attainable through all the usual levels. Colleagues on the Scholarship track are expected to actively engage with and contribute to the pedagogical literature on politics teaching in HE. Career progression will be based on excellence in teaching, teaching innovation, service and leadership as well knowledge transfer and external engagement.
