RPS is currently looking for a motivated and experienced individual to lead our assessment team as the Head of Assessment. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced assessment professional to help develop and shape the future of post-registration credentialing in the pharmacy profession. As the Head of Assessment, you will be at the forefront of driving innovation and excellence in assessment processes, workflows, and technologies. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that RPS credentialing assessments adhere to best practice and support the development of the pharmacy workforce at a time of exciting change for the profession. You will also play a vital role in building strategic partnerships with employers and governmental bodies, promoting the value of RPS credentialing within the sector.

Requirements:

What you will bring:

  • Education and Experience: You are educated to degree level (or equivalent work experience) and have a proven track record of working in a senior assessment role in undergraduate or postgraduate education, training, and/or examinations environment. Your experience in successfully managing complex projects and implementing operational or technological change in an assessment environment will be invaluable.
  • Innovative Thinking: Your knowledge of innovative assessment processes and technologies will drive our assessment delivery forward, ensuring we able to deliver at scale whilst maintaining our commitment to quality.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: You have experience managing a team and are adept at working effectively with colleagues across a complex organisation. Your ability to work in a matrix fashion will foster collaboration and synergy.
  • Efficiency and Sustainability: You understand the importance of balancing assessment policy and principles with the need for efficiency and financial sustainability. Your pragmatic approach will help us achieve both.

Desirable qualities:

  • Healthcare Experience: Experience working in a similar healthcare leadership or royal college organisation will be highly advantageous.
  • Technological Acumen: Experience overseeing the operational delivery of portfolio assessments and successfully implementing new technology solutions to automate assessment processes will set you apart.
  • Commitment to Excellence: Your understanding of best practice in post-registration healthcare assessment will ensure our assessments meet the highest standards.

The Directorate

The RPS Professional Membership & Education (PMED) directorate is responsible for:

  • Leading and supporting members and the profession to deliver and continually improve high-quality patient care.
  • Defining and assuring post-registration standards of pharmacy practice through curricula, assessments, and credentialing.
  • Supporting members and the profession to deliver and promote the highest standards of pharmacy practice and professionalism.
  • Advancing pharmacy practice and science by educating the profession to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to meet changing patient needs.

The Team

The assessment and credentialing team is a small but dynamic team within the RPS. We are passionate about advancing pharmacy to promote excellence in patient care across the UK. With a variety of both pharmacists and assessment professionals, we work to define and assure post-registration standards in patient-focussed pharmacy practice through RPS credentialing. The team is growing as we begin to deliver more and more assessments across the UK in collaboration with our education partners.

How we are currently working

RPS supports and works in a hybrid way, which means you will be able to work from home, however, there will be an expectation for collaborative face-to-face working – on average and typically this may be something between 4-8 working days per month at our London Office.
