Advai is a pioneering UK startup dedicated to cultivating trust in AI/ML systems, ensuring they are robust, fair, and secure for deployment in critical security environments. We seek pioneering solutions to shape reliable and robust AI that stands up to real-world challenges.
The University of York’s Department of Computer Science and Advai are collaborating in an Innovate UK funded Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), which will accelerate the safe adoption of AI across multiple industry sectors and are looking for a KTP Associate in Assured Safe AI Systems to join the project.
The successful applicant will be employed by the University of York and based at Advai’s London office hybrid working 2 days a week in the office. Advai work focuses on how AI can fail at different stages of its life cycle and their mission is to assess and understand these failures in terms of robustness, performance, security, explainability and bias. University of York’s Computer Science is a UK top ten research department - according to the Times Higher Education’s ranking of the latest REF results (2021). The Department’s High Integrity Systems group, that the KTP Associate will join, is a global leader in systems safety and safe autonomy research.
As noted, this position forms part of the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) scheme funded by Innovate UK. It is essential you understand how a KTP works with business and the University, and the vital role you will play if you successfully secure the KTP Associate position. Please visit the University KTP website for further information.
The KTP Associate will play a pivotal role in marrying safety engineering principles with AI and autonomous system assurance, fundamental in sectors including defence, aerospace, nuclear, and healthcare.
The KTP will develop a scalable, automated service platform for testing and assuring AI systems, bridging high-level user requirements and evidence-generating tools, thereby enabling key business decision-makers to trust their autonomous systems in a dynamically evolving harm landscape. The KTP offers the associate a unique opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in various avenues. This is delivered through training provided by the KTP allowing the associate to become a leader going forward in their career.
