Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Local Volume Galaxy Archaeology. The successful candidate will join the research group of Prof. Annette Ferguson at the Institute for Astronomy, which is part of the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Edinburgh.
The research goal of the position is to study the archaeological record of galaxy formation that is contained in galaxies located throughout the Local Volume. The successful candidate will exploit forefront observational datasets from the Subaru telescope and the recently launched Euclid satellite to work on stellar halo analyses, including searches for globular clusters and satellite galaxies. There will also be scope to compare the observational results with predictions from numerical simulations of galaxy formation.
