We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to work with Tullet laboratory. This project aims to identify the molecular mechanisms that connect information relating to nutrients in the environment with effects on metabolic health and ageing.

The applicant will require a PhD in an appropriate field, have the ability to undertake independent research, efficiently, creatively and collegially. They will possess strong oral communication skills and be highly self-motivated.

The appointee will be based within the School of Biosciences and will deliver research based activities of a high standard, supervision of project students, as well as some teaching. The appointee will be expected to review current literature, design experiments, collect and analyse data and, supervise graduate students and communicate regularly with the PI.

As Postdoctoral Research Associate you will:

  • independently carry out research with guidance from the PI.
  • assist with supervising graduate students in the lab e.g. provide training in techniques and advice on experimental design.
  • contribute to the design, acquisition, set up, maintenance and integration of experimental assays 
  • document research output including analysis and interpretation of all data, maintaining records and databases, drafting technical/progress reports and papers as appropriate.
  • present their work at group and departmental meetings.

The successful candidate will have/be:

  • PhD degree in topic related to the transcriptional regulation of age-related health or equivalent
  • demonstrable ability to undertake laboratory research using a range of cellular and molecular techniques 
  • ability to undertake independent research 
  • proven ability to deliver quality outputs in a timely and efficient manner 
  • excellent oral and written communication skills.
