Job Summary

The MSc Bioscience Futures; Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Communication is an exciting new master’s course that combines the expertise of academics working in the Biosciences with the practical expertise of Imperial's Enterprise Department. The course will be led and administrated by the National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI) and delivered in collaboration with the Enterprise Lab. The course will take its first cohort of new students in the new academic year 2024-2025.

The NHLI is seeking to recruit an individual with experience and expertise in innovation and entrepreneurship to develop and deliver active learning, digital content and authentic assessments, that are inclusive in their design. The post holder will support the development of the new programme and contribute to the launch of its first intake, collaborating with the Programme Team to ensure effective teaching delivery.

This position can be offered as a shared job between two teaching fellows who hold a shared balance of the expertise and skills required. Please indicate as part of your application if you are applying for role full time or as a shared option.

Key duties and responsibilities

You will support an excellent student experience and help NHLI’s academic and teaching staff to deliver a world-class education in Bioscience Futures through responsibilities including:

  • Contributing to the design of the digital learning platform and developing essential content including the course handbook, timetables and teaching materials
  • Supporting module leaders in creation of timetables and day to day duties
  • Developing cohort building activities and processes that enhance the student experience
  • Develop marking criteria and assessment requirements across all modules and placements
  • Stay informed and up to date on the implications of AI on the assessment processes and other current and innovative developments in learning and teaching

Essential requirements

The ideal candidate for this position is someone who:

  • Has a degree in a relevant subject area and have experience or expertise in the areas of entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as teaching experience in a Higher Education setting
  • Has the ability to excel within a team environment, have enthusiasm for teaching and be willing to learn new skills to support education
  • Has experience with student cohort building
  • Is adaptable and keen to drive the development and future expansion of the programme and students
  • Has good knowledge and understanding of the priorities and challenges of an education department and the postgraduate student life cycle
  • Has excellent communication skills and administration skills

This role is Fulltime, Open-ended (open to job share) based predominantly at Royal Brompton and Hammersmith Campus (East Acton), with flexibility to visit other sites.
