This role supports a range of School activities and will work closely with the Marketing Team in the University’s central External Relations directorate. The aim of the role is to ensure that the year-round programme of School events is effectively planned, produced, and delivered to the highest standard. This encompasses a wide range of activities across the School’s venues and off-site that cater to a varied audience, and includes Cooper Gallery, Degree Show, Masters Show, recruitment events and research conferences, symposiums and exhibitions. These high-profile events present, promote, and maximise the impact of the internationally renowned work of our staff, students, partners, and collaborators, of DJCAD and the University.

This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual with the capacity for innovative and creative problem- solving who has a successful track record of events management, production, and associated promotions and marketing, within the creative and cultural sector, or of a similar role in Art and Design Higher Education. Playing a key role in all aspects of events management and production and the marketing of those events, from the initial stages of planning through to delivery and beyond, the role-holder will ensure that our events are delivered and marketed to excellent professional standards.

Your priorities will include:

  • Leading a School-wide area of operational activities which includes the planning, resource management and overall delivery of major events in the School calendar.
  • Work closely with the Director & Principal Curator of the Cooper Gallery in planning and ensuring the resources to deliver the Cooper Gallery’s established and internationally acclaimed programmes that support the student experience as well as being part of the prestigious Plus Tate network of galleries.
  • Work closely with the Associate Dean for Research to ensure and manage operational support and resources needed for exhibitions, events, and external engagement activities.
  • Agree and deliver all event-related marketing assets and content creation for the year, keeping the central Marketing Team in External Relations.
  • Oversee the annual planning of the School calendar for externally facing activities for the yearly cycle to ensure

that resources for events are well managed across the School, line managing the School Events and Exhibitions Production Team.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Education to degree level in Marketing, Events Management, or a visual arts or creative subject, or other relevant subjects.
  • Experience of event planning, production, management and evaluation.
  • Understanding of key audiences for different types of events, including the creative and cultural sectors.
  • Experience of creating and implementing marketing plans.
  • Experience of managing budgets and other resources.
