Job Title: Professional Training Lead for Quantum Computing

Location: RAL, Harwell Campus- Oxfordshire

Our National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC) is looking for a Professional Training Lead for Quantum Computing within the Innovation Team to deliver quantum readiness activities aligned to our key themes.

Your main focus will be to work with the Quantum Readiness Delivery Lead to develop the NQCC’s early careers and professional development strategy and then to deliver against that strategy. You will manage, develop and promote a diverse portfolio of activities including engagement with doctoral programmes, professional skills courses, skills events and early career placements. A core part of this role is to review and evaluate training materials based on technical knowledge.

You will build relationships with key stakeholders and represent the centre externally at conferences, events and in the media as appropriate. Expanding and managing a portfolio of professional skills courses including online learning platforms and live courses, you will establish frameworks that allow assessment of external collaboration partners and the NQCC’s accreditation of relevant training materials/courses/events.

The overall aim of this work is to support the development of a skilled quantum workforce to drive quantum industry, through providing a diverse range of accessible opportunities.

Person Specification:

  • Educated to Degree level, or proven experience in a field related to quantum computing, including (but not limited to) physics, maths or computer science
  • Familiarity with research and skills required for quantum computing and/or the aptitude to build knowledge on the skills required
  • Knowledge and understanding of UK postgraduate landscape and funding bodies
  • Experience of managing/supporting those early in their careers
  • Proven ability to run, manage and report on projects and/or programmes related to research and innovation
  • Excellent skills in communication and stakeholder management (including influencing), with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent organisational and teamworking skills, with the ability to develop strong, collaborative relationships and respond flexibility and adaptively in planning work
