We are looking for a Specialist Technician with demonstrable experience in structural bioinformatics, as well as high-throughput cloning and protein expression and purification protocols. Experience in handling and optimisation of membrane protein constructs will be a bonus.
This is a fixed-term research-intensive role until 28 February 2026 in the first instance, in support of OptiVANTS Wellcome Trust grant and is offered on a part-time basis at 0.5 FTE (18 hours per week).
This role provides a unique opportunity to apply high-throughput technologies to support antigen discovery and validation as part of OptiVANTS Wellcome trust grant targeting invasive non-typhoidal Salmonella (iNTS). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research targeting invasive bacterial disease which impacts disproportionately low- and medium-income countries and be part of a team working on a breakthrough technology with the potential to revolutionize vaccine design and delivery for this neglected pathogen.
Applicants should hold a PhD in a subject relevant to protein structure, biophysics or structural biology or similar or to be in the final stages of your studies. In addition, you will possess extensive expertise in structural bioinformatics, recombinant DNA techniques, high-throughput protein screening and purification.
To be successful in this role, you will be organised with a strong sense of detail as well as being self-motivated and ambitious.
