The University of Sheffield is leading an ongoing, interdisciplinary and international research programme to uncover the mechanisms that underpin antimicrobial resistance. We have recently been awarded a circa £6M Wellcome Trust Discovery Grant that will fund multiple researchers in Sheffield, Germany and the USA, for 6 years, to study how the notorious superbug MRSA is able to be so resistant and how we might develop new approaches to control it.
We are seeking a highly motivated, self-reliant individual with strong interpersonal skills to support the academic leads and other team members to deliver the programme aims. Therefore, you must be able to demonstrate strong organizational and analytical skills, and the ability to work independently. You will ensure effective management and administration of the programme and facilitate interactions across multiple sites and disciplines. You will organise research and management meetings, liaise between partners, Wellcome Trust, and relevant university professional service providers, monitor programme finances, and identify further opportunities that could enhance our research outputs.
Applicants must have a good honours degree (or equivalent experience) along with experience in the delivery of operational plans, organising events such as conferences and workshops and proven project management ability. The ability to work flexibly, independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse and complex team is also essential.
We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
