                                           Grade 9 £57,696 - £66,857 per annum

The Harper and Keele Veterinary School is seeking to appoint and experienced and suitably qualified health care professional into a novel lectureship which will lead on the development and integration of Clinical Human Factors & Ergonomics (HFE) across the 5-year Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery programme and lead on the use implementation of immersive simulation-based training in veterinary education.

At the school, we recognise that the integration of HFE training in the undergraduate curriculum is an essential evolution of veterinary education; a requisite for optimising clinical performance and patient safety outcomes.  We are looking to appoint a colleague who can help us design innovative and contemporary frameworks and optimise the use of simulated environments for non-technical skill development. enhancing graduate preparedness for any role in the veterinary profession.

The successful candidate will have full access to a range of resources necessary including the new Consort E3 Laboratory, a digitally enhanced, state-of-the art, veterinary immersive simulation suite which is based at our Keele campus.  This brand-new facility is set to be a sector leading veterinary simulation and experiential training centre, designed around the learner and fully digitally enabled.  Three weeks of intramural rotations have been protected within the curriculum to ensure that the time required for authentic and impactful, outcomes-based simulation training is available.

Ultimately, to maximise the potential of this role, the successful candidate will need to be a creative and forward-thinking team player who can bring not only their educational experience and understanding of Clinical HFE, but their vision and aspiration for what can be achieved with these resources at their disposal.

The role will require academic leadership to coordinate resources and expertise across both universities, to support colleagues as they integrate Clinical HFE training across the programme, to provide faculty development, engage with external stakeholders and to undertake educational scholarship to inform an evidence-based approach to veterinary human factor training.

The appointee will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to the school’s widening access to the veterinary profession for students from all backgrounds and to embrace and engage in the school’s culture of innovation in teaching and learning.

The appointee will be primarily based at Keele, however the role will require regular travel between Harper Adams and Keele University for delivery of teaching and learning activities and for relevant administrative duties.  Flexible working practices are supported by the school wherever possible.

The Harper & Keele Veterinary School values equality and diversity across our workforce and to ensuring our staff community is reflective of the diversity of our student population. In support of these commitments, we welcome applications from individuals of Black, Asian, and ethnic minority backgrounds for all roles.
