Central Saint Martins is a world-leading centre for arts and design education. Graphic Communication Design is one of CSM’s eight academic programmes and is comprised of three courses: BA (Honours) Graphic Communication Design, MA Graphic Communication Design and MA Communicating Complexity. Our mission is to facilitate a large heterogenous community of students and staff to thrive through graphic design and communication practice in diverse and meaningful ways. We ask and answer questions through and about graphic communication design.

We are currently recruiting two lecturers to take up roles from September 2024:

BA Graphic Communication and MA Graphic Communication Design are well-established and globally respected courses that have influenced and informed industry and practice across the field of graphic design in the most open sense. Our staff value pedagogic innovation, technically and contextually informed practice, and explorative approaches to the possibilities of our disciplines.

For these roles, we are particularly interested in meeting candidates who bring critical perspectives on graphic design informed by in-depth engagements with creative computing. The lecturers who take up these posts will provide high-quality curriculum, teaching, assessment, and feedback. Working as part of a course and programme team, they will liaise with technical colleagues, participate in quality and enhancement processes, recruiting of students, and contributing to our external profile.

Both lecturers will also engage with research, knowledge exchange or other scholarly projects. Development of capacity for research and knowledge exchange is a current priority for GCD, CSM and UAL. These posts have significant potential for early career academics wishing to develop their careers on these pathways. There are currently PhD funding opportunities ringfenced for University of the Arts London academic staff.

Successful candidates will be expected to work in accordance with current university academic policy and frameworks as well as contribute to the vision and strategic positioning of the programme.
