The Royal Academy of Music is one of the world’s leading conservatoires. It prides itself on being stimulating, forward looking and a friendly environment with a diverse mix of students and staff from over 60 countries. Based in central London adjacent to Regent’s Park, we have trained musicians to the highest professional standards since 1822 and we are firmly focused on developing tomorrow’s musical leaders in disciplines including classical, jazz, composition and musical theatre.

The Human Resources department provides a friendly and professional service to approximately 600 teaching and professional services staff.  We seek a pro-active, self-motivated and highly organised People Partner to join the HR team.

You will have responsibility for the employee lifecycle for professional services and teaching staff and for supporting the delivery of Academy strategy. You will provide high quality advice on complex HR issues and deliver an engaging, solutions-focussed service to heads of departments, managers, staff and stakeholders. The People Partner will build strong, trusted relationships with highly talented staff, guiding with tact, diplomacy, and integrity. As part of a small team, you will enjoy the flexibility of working across the institution, with reciprocal support from the HR team as required, providing a welcoming, friendly, professional and efficient HR service.

To be successful in this busy and challenging role, you will have substantial and robust experience of delivering proactive positive HR solutions to managers and staff across the full employee lifecycle. You will have substantial experience of managing informal and formal processes in addition to managing complex HR cases through to resolution and conclusion. Ideally, you will have experience of working within higher education or the arts and be able to bring innovative ideas to enhance existing practices. You’ll work well in a small friendly team, whilst taking ownership of your work and delivering results. Solid IT skills, a good eye for detail, excellent written and verbal communication and an engaging, friendly outlook are essential.
