Location: London, Hybrid
Salary: £42,099 to £50,085

About us

UCL is a radically different university. Founded in 1826 in the heart of London we are a multidisciplinary university, with more than 16,000 staff and 50,000 students from over 150 countries. We were the first university in England to welcome students of any religion and the first to welcome women on equal terms with men. UCL is a diverse community with the freedom and courage to challenge, to question and to think differently.

About the role

Roughly 7,500 of our students are housed across more than 20 UCL-managed and partner halls. Over the past three years, we have introduced Flourish, a Residential Life programme which aims to help our residents get the most out of living in UCL halls. We are now seeking to recruit a ResLife Manager on a 2-year FTC to develop Flourish and act as a link between UCL Accommodation’s daytime operations and the out-of-hours welfare and community-building service.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing, Communications, & Experience and working closely with the Director of Accommodation, the ResLife Manager will oversee and develop Flourish, working with various teams to ensure positive living and learning environments for UCL Accommodation residents. They will work closely with student teams including the Student Residence Adviser team and Student Ambassadors, build partnerships with external organisations and will act as a direct link between the Campus Experience department, UCL Accommodation, and UCL Student Support & Wellbeing. As this is a newly created role, there is a lot of scope and freedom to develop and implement innovative systems and processes, and to change and improve those already in place.

This role can be worked on a hybrid basis, it is anticipated that this will mean at least 2-3 days on site per week. Due to the nature of this role and the colleagues that our ResLife Manager will collaborate with, some flexibility will be required around working hours to accommodate evening site visits, this can of course be compensated for with late starts or early finishes in discussion with the line manager.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need to have experience working at a university or FE college, in student accommodation, welfare, or student experience. You are passionate about the student experience and are able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of ResLife. You'll also need understanding of how to run successful student engagement programmes, and critical thinking skills to adapt and respond to feedback or results. You should have experience co-creating with students or young people and implementing student or customer voice.

You're an excellent communicator across all mediums, and are confident in public speaking for large groups of student-staff. Your interpersonal skill are top-notch - you are diplomatic and discreet when needed and are able to liaise with staff and external individuals at all levels, and motivate staff and students to engage with ResLife. You have excellent IT skills including MS Office and diary management software, and capable of analysing data, reporting on trends and writing termly reports.
