We have a Research Fellow post available, working as part of The Sussex Colour Group (www.sussexcolourgroup.co.uk) on the COLOURMIND project which is funded by the European Research Council.  COLOURMIND investigates the calibration of colour perception to the visual environment using cross-cultural, developmental and neuroimaging methods.  The Research Fellow will work on parts of the project which capture the chromatic statistics of the visual environment using head-mounted cameras and which compare the impact of cross-environmental and developmental differences in these scene statistics on perception. The Research Fellow will join the project for its final year and their main duty will be analysis of existing datasets and preparation of manuscripts for publication.  The Research Fellow will be responsible for chromatic image analysis of large datasets from head-mounted cameras, hyperspectral cameras and spectrometers.  The aim of this analysis is to understand how chromatic scene statistics vary seasonally, across different environments and developmentally.  The Research Fellow will also conduct analyses which identify the relationship between their image analyses and participant’s performances on a battery of color perception tasks.  Competency in chromatic image analysis, handling of large datasets, and excellent MATLAB skills is essential.
