Due to the progression of previous post holders, applications are invited for Clinical or Counselling Psychologists to join the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme at the University of Hertfordshire (UH). We are seeking to appoint post holders to contribute specialist knowledge relevant to selection, clinical, academic and research areas that complement the existing provision within the DClinPsy Team.

The programme is based in the Department of Psychology, Sport and Geography on the College Lane Campus at the University of Hertfordshire. The successful applicant will work as part of a friendly, ambitious and enterprising Team who deliver excellent training and continue to develop the programme in innovative and creative ways. 

Main duties and responsibilities

The role will include supporting students academically and pastorally via the trainee tutorial system and the monitoring and evaluation of trainee performance on placement.  It will also include contribution to the organisation and delivery of the academic curriculum, including module organising, teaching, facilitation of problem-based learning small groups and the evaluation of DClinPsy trainees' coursework. There will be the opportunity to supervise trainee research with mentoring support available, and to join a research stream which fits with interests and experience. Dependent on the strand of the programme in which the post holder is located, there may also be the opportunity to take a lead on the admissions and selection of trainee clinical psychologists or take a key role in the scoping and allocation of trainees to placements within the region.  

The post assumes that the appointee will undertake relevant CPD in order to maintain their professional registration.

Skills and experience required

You will have proven post-qualification clinical experience. You will also have a strong commitment to, and some experience in, education, training and supervision. You will be able to plan and manage your own activities effectively and have good oral and written communication skills in both spoken and written English.

Qualifications required

In addition to your undergraduate and post-graduate qualification in a relevant subject, you will have HCPC registration and be eligible for BPS Chartered status. We would also welcome applicants with systemic or CBT accreditation.
