About the Department

The Data Protection Team sits within the Governance and Legal Services Department which supports good governance for Goldsmiths and ensures compliance with its many statutory and regulatory responsibilities.

About the Role

The Information Governance Officer will support the Data Protection Officer in meeting their obligations under the Data Protection Act 2018 and General Data Protection Regulation and ensuring the College’s compliance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations.

The Information Governance Officer will act as a subject matter expert on Information Governance legislation and its application to respond to data protection queries and requests and to develop and maintain transparent and effective information governance policies, systems and procedures.

About the Candidate

We are searching for an expert information governance professional who has:

Excellent practical knowledge of UK Data Protection and Freedom of Information legislation.

Significant experience of dealing and responding to complex Data Subject Access and other information rights requests.

Proven experience of undertaking Data Protection Impact Assessments, reviewing contracts, preparing Data Sharing Agreements and updating Privacy Notices

Experience of developing and delivering training materials, briefings, procedures, polices and other guidance to ensure staff have adequate awareness in the application of Data Protection, Freedom of Information laws to their work.

Experience of investigating data breach incidents.
