The Babraham Institute in Cambridge carries out internationally-leading science organised into Programmes of Immunology, Epigenetics and Signalling with relevance to human health and ageing. We are seeking to recruit a junior or mid-career Principal Investigator to join our Immunology Programme.

Our Immunology Programme investigates the molecular mechanisms that coordinate gene expression and influence cell fate, with unique strengths in RNA biology. We use mouse models and human studies to understand lymphocyte function and immunological memory at the cellular and molecular levels. Together with colleagues in Epigenetics and Signalling, we are uniquely positioned to leverage the most sophisticated approaches to study chromatin and protein turnover, enabling a systems-wide view of how gene expression is regulated.  The Institute provides excellent scientific facilities including genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, flow cytometry, advanced imaging capabilities, synthetic chemistry and gene targeting, all maintained by dedicated staff.

We would like to make an appointment to enhance the Immunology Programme and welcome applications from established Principal Investigators and from Postdocs who are ready to lead their own independent research group. We are interested to hear from candidates who can strengthen our expertise in RNA biology and will bring the latest conceptual and technological innovations to the Immunology Programme and the Institute. We have excellent connections with the Research and Innovation community in the Cambridge area including Cambridge University departments and Institutes and the commercial sector.

Appointed colleagues will be expected to be proactive and progressive supporters of equality and diversity.  The appointments will be tenured or tenure-track, depending on experience, and come with a competitive salary and support package including core funding, lab space and access to outstanding science facilities.

We welcome informal enquiries to Martin Turner martin.turner@babraham.ac.uk (Immunology Programme Lead)

or Claudia Ribeiro de Almeida claudia.ribeiro@babraham.ac.uk (Immunology Group Leader).

For further details about this position or to apply online please click on the 'Apply' button above.

Further information about the Institute can also be found on our website (www.babraham.ac.uk).

Applications should include a CV, a description of research experience (one-page) and an outline of future research plans, including anticipated usage of science facilities (maximum 3 pages excluding figures and references). The latter two documents should be uploaded as the ‘Cover Letter’ and ‘Additional Documents’ on the application form.

Closing date for completed applications is Tuesday 23rd April 2024.

Seminars and interviews will be held on 16th May, 17th May, 22nd May & 23rd May 2024.
