About the Role
Permanent and 30 hours per week
We’re looking for an enthusiastic person to join a small friendly team undertaking research on the pest insects of crops and based at the Stratford Innovation Campus near Wellesbourne. You will be responsible for growing and maintaining the plants, insects and other materials that we use for our research on crops. You will also set up, maintain and assess experiments in the laboratory, glasshouse and outdoors, and undertake routine monitoring of insects and plants on the campus. For this you will be required to learn basic insect identification skills and analytical techniques. You will be responsible for entering data into spreadsheets and carrying out basic data analysis. You will be working with research staff and students and will need to attend regular meetings to share information and plan new work. You will contribute to the training and supervision of students and visitors.

About You
We are looking for someone with expertise in working with insects and plants in a research environment and with experience in basic insect identification and molecular biology techniques, but we also welcome applications from people with less specialised skills who are willing to learn. Applicants should be well-organised and able to work independently and as part of a team. They should be good with numbers, able to record information accurately, proficient in the use of MS Office packages, and able to interpret complex instructions.
