This is an exciting opportunity to work on scanning electrochemical probe microscopes and to encourage use on pilot ‘seedcorn’ projects by PhD students and research groups throughout the UK.
The research will be directed by Prof Patrick Unwin of University of Warwick Electrochemistry and Interfaces Group (http://www.warwick.ac.uk/electrochemistry). The group is renowned for its work on the development and application of innovative experimental techniques. This project will build on a world-leading infrastructure that is available for high resolution electrochemical imaging and nanoscale synthesis, based on nanopipette-based methods.
For informal enquiries, please contact Prof. Patrick Unwin (p.r.unwin@warwick.ac.uk).
You will be a highly motivated person with experience in as many of the following areas as possible: scanning electrochemical cell microscopy, scanning ion conductance microscopy and scanning electrochemical microscopy (all essential), nanopipette electrochemical techniques, optical microscopy, fluorescence confocal laser scanning microscopy), crystal growth studies, electrochemical methods, and MATLAB programming (code development and data analysis routines).
To join our interdisciplinary and highly regarded team you will be an enthusiastic and committed person, with imaginative ideas and a passion for science. It is essential that you are able to work both independently and as part of a large team across multiple institutions and disciplines. You will therefore need to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and experience of presenting your work to both national and international audiences. The consortium has an excellent track record of publications in top quality journals. For recent publications from the Warwick group see:

For further information regarding the skills required for this role please see the personal specification section of the attached job description.
If you are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD but have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant at the top of level 5 of the University grade structure. Upon receipt of evidence of the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of level 6 of the University grade structure.
