Annual Leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Main duties and responsibilities

The Senior Lecturer will provide high quality teaching, research and module leadership in Computer Science with expertise that will contribute to our Human Centred Computing group with demonstrable experience and expertise in all or some of the following areas:

  • Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
  • Accessibility conformance testing
  • HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Experience with WAVE, Google Lighthouse or similar tools

You will also provide pastoral and academic support for home and international students, and will play an important role as part of a team incorporating the Head of Department or Subject Group Leader, programme leader, module leaders, the professional, administrative and technical staff (if applicable), the Dean of School and the Associate Deans of School.

You will also be expected to contribute to teaching in mainstream areas of Computer Science, and modules with particularly large groups of students.

Skills and experience required

You will possess excellent communication skills in English and have demonstrable experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level.  Whilst face to face teaching is expected, you may be required to teach in a blended mode or wholly online, with excellent organization, planning and IT skills. You will have the ability to contribute to curriculum development, and an appreciation and understanding of the educational needs of students. You will have the ability to act as a responsible team member and develop productive working relationships with other members of staff, as well as flexibility and adaptability to workload and team requirements.

Qualifications required

An undergraduate degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in a relevant discipline, as well as a postgraduate qualification i.e. Masters and/or PhD (completed or close to completion, e.g. has submitted final thesis) in a Computer Science/relevant field or significant demonstrable experience in the required areas. A fellowship of Advance HE (formerly the Higher Education Academy) is desirable.
