The University of Roehampton is recruiting to the role of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences to join our academic team. This is an exciting time to join the Life Sciences team in the School and play a key role in supporting the School’s delivery and future development of biosciences over the next few years.

We are looking for individuals with subject and research expertise and/or professional practice experience in microbiology, molecular and cell biology, biochemistry and bioinformatics and can contribute to the wider bioscience portfolio. We are also seeking expertise in research methods and data analysis and importantly, experience in leading, designing, and delivering inspiring higher education programmes in biomedical and health sciences.

The successful candidate will thrive in an environment where they work inter professionally and can continue to practice and research, whilst providing an outstanding student academic experience to develop high quality graduates in the field. Leadership, passion, solution-focussed, and the ability to communicate and nurture development are key qualities of interest.

The successful candidate will contribute to a biosciences team of experts and bring their specialist expertise in biomedical science to lead and contribute to this field and guide the development and delivery of this subject in current and future provision. We encourage collaborative working and aligned expertise to continue to support our thriving areas of research. We are seeking opportunities to build national and international networks and thus, encourage those with relative experiences to apply.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver teaching that encompasses employer and skills-led experiential learning and professional development
  • Engage in high-quality teaching and learning, research and/or knowledge transfer which demonstrably impacts on practice, generates external income, and contributes to the University’s Enabling Strategies
  • Participate in and help develop external networks for the benefit of the University and appropriate areas of teaching, scholarship, research and knowledge transfer.
  • Engage in the development of new pathways for student learning, e.g., apprenticeship degrees, and blended and online learning

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • experience of teaching at university level or significant professional experience
  • ability to increase and diversify our income
  • experience of teaching at university level in an interdisciplinary manner with evidence of delivering high levels of student satisfaction and outcomes or extensive professional experience of working across multiple teams with evidence of delivering high levels of end user satisfaction and/or outcomes
  • industry/third sector/public sector and professional networks that will make a positive contribution to the student experience
