We are looking for a Lecturer in Ancient History.

The opportunity:

The School of History, Classics and Archaeology at the University of Edinburgh is pleased to invite applications for an open-ended Lectureship in Ancient History, within the Department of Classics. The candidate will be required to routinely teach on first-year courses on Greek History, to develop and teach specialised modules in Ancient History (Greek and potentially beyond) for advanced undergraduate as well as postgraduate students, and to supervise doctoral students. While we particularly welcome applications from candidates who can combine the study of the Greek World with the study of the Ancient Near East, other profiles within Ancient History will be considered as long as there is a visible focus on the Greek World (broadly conceived).

Your skills and attributes for success:

• Research expertise in Greek History (broadly conceived).
• Evidence of experience in teaching, indicative of commitment to and potential for excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Greek history.
• Portfolio of excellent research, including recent or forthcoming publications, commensurate with career stage.
• Evidence of potential or experience of attracting external funding, commensurate with career stage.
• An understanding of and demonstrable commitment to promoting and embedding equality, diversity and inclusion principles and practices.
