Project Manager

We are seeking to appoint a highly skilled Project Manager to join the exciting GRAM Project! The GRAM (Global Burden of Antimicrobial Resistance) project aims to synthesise drug resistance data worldwide, create cartographic maps of the distribution of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in selected bacterial-antibacterial combinations and to estimate the global burden of AMR. GRAM work is undertaken in collaboration with our partner institute, the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME).

You will be responsible for managing the project and relevant work streams in collaboration with the principal investigators and in collaboration with our partner institute IHME to ensure the milestones and objectives are met within deadlines and the work is conducted within the University standards and the funder’s terms and conditions. You will develop a thorough understanding of the workstreams of the project, as well as results and material presented in journal articles, policy reports, and presentations that result from the GRAM project. In addition, you will assist in the preparation of project meetings, co-ordinate conference calls and meetings, present project updates (if necessary) and to take and distribute minutes, action points and agendas.

In addition, you will contribute to the development and implementation of the project’s operational strategy, liaise with the Grant Management Team as appropriate to prepare or assist in the preparation of project-related documents and assist the project and team in administrative tasks and duties.

It is essential that you are educated to an undergraduate level, ideally in Medical or Life Sciences or other relevant subject, and have significant relevant project management experience/skills and with a good understanding of the complexities of scientific research projects. You will be able to communicate effectively to a high standard, including relatively complex scientific matters, orally and in writing, and you will be able and willing to actively contribute towards developing and improving innovative ways of working and managing projects and research programmes. Additionally, you will have highly developed problem solving and organisation skills, with an ability to meet competing deadlines. A PhD in a related area, e.g. epidemiology, infectious diseases or bacterial antimicrobial resistance would be highly desirable.
