A position is available in the newly founded UKRI National 6G Radio Systems Facility (N6GRSF) to engage a Facility Manager.

The N6GRSF aims to grow a world-leading research and innovation base in 6G and beyond radio communications systems. The N6GRSF will focus on all aspects of the physical layer in radio communications utilising frequency bands from sub-6GHz through to sub-THz. This will encompass research on waveforms, digital signal processing, RF circuits and devices, and antenna arrays. The state-of-the-art facility will enable research in advanced 6G radio systems and will act as an open centre of excellence for the UK.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to operate, manage and develop the Facility, which supports ~£14M of key projects in the field of wireless communications systems funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL) and industry. You will support industry and academic users as well as early career researchers, such as postdoctoral and post graduate researchers. Under the supervision of the Facility Director, Professor O’Farrell, you will take responsibility for managing the operation of the facility including facility maintenance, access and experimental support for its users. Also, you will have an opportunity to use the facility for your own research in wireless communications systems. Experience of radio systems relevant to 4/5/6G is essential, including digital baseband techniques and technologies.

The N6GRSF is a prestigious £2.4M project funded by the EPSRC and sponsored by over 20 industrial partners. The aim of N6GRSF is to grow the UK world-leading research and innovation base in advanced wireless communications systems, which is fundamental to industry and the national economy. The N6GRSF’s world-leading facilities will enable waveform discovery, ultra-wideband radio systems development and state-of-the-art measurement and characterisation of prototype solutions. N6GRSF will act as an open access centre of excellence in 6G radio systems development for the UK. The N6GRSF Facility Manager will be at the heart of the new research facility enabling technical operation and key research competencies in 6G radio systems development.

The successful candidate should have a deep technical knowledge of wireless communications systems and, ideally, should have experience working either in or with industry. If you are interested in being part of a new world leading facility for the development of 6G and beyond radio systems within a world top 100 University, then this post is an exciting opportunity for you.
