The Role

Oxford University Event Venues (OUEV) is offering an extraordinary opportunity within a truly unique venue. Located in Oxford’s medieval city centre, the Sheldonian Theatre is a Grade 1 listed architectural jewel, designed by Sir Christopher Wren and completed in 1699. The principal ceremonial hall for Oxford University graduation ceremonies, it is also an exceptional venue for performances, film shoots, banquets and prestigious talks as well as a global building of interest.

The Operations Manager role is a diverse, interesting and senior position which encompasses delivering all internal events, commercial venue hire and visitor experience within the Sheldonian Theatre. The role has responsibility for leading a dedicated team of staff, resource planning, high profile event management, business development and driving profitable growth. You will work closely with the Facilities Management team to meet standards of excellence in an operationally effective environment, keeping outstanding visitor experience and customer journey at the forefront.

This is an exciting time to join the team as we expand the building's fledging visitor attraction business. The role will play a major part in the success of developing this revenue stream, with the opportunity to implement new initiatives and contribute to the Sheldonian Theatre becoming a landmark Oxford destination.

The OUEV team coordinates events across a portfolio of distinctive Oxford University buildings. Whilst your focus will be the Sheldonian Theatre, you will also have the opportunity to broaden your experience by coordinating events in all the OUEV venues.

Please note that the job title for the successful candidate will be the Event Venues Operations Manager.

You will have experience in successfully recruiting, developing, motivating and managing a customer-focussed team, including full-time roles and a pool of 25-30 variable hours.
