Are you looking to develop a career in research?
Are you a highly motivated researcher or clinical trainee passionate about medical research? We have THREE Bicentennial Fellowships, as part of celebrations around the School of Medicine and Population Health’s upcoming bicentenary. Each Fellowship will run for three years starting in October 2024 and one of the Fellowships will be used to support cancer research.
Our diverse research environment is a global leader in health, fostering collaboration between the brightest minds at The University of Sheffield and the esteemed clinical practitioners of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Together, we're at the forefront of developing new treatments, diagnostics, and medical technologies. We strive to publish our work in leading journals and conferences in the field, and have taken our discoveries in the lab through to clinical trials. You will be highly motivated and hard-working with the ability to design, perform and analyse data or clinical trials with attention to detail and integrity. We encourage applications from enthusiastic and highly-motivated candidates across all themes of interest in the School of Medicine and Population Health (https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/smph). If successful, you would be appointed as a Grade 7 or 8 Research Fellow. We also encourage applications from clinicians with a passion for pursuing a career in research to join us as Clinical Academic Trainees. All applicants would have clear targets for research and leadership development. During your appointment, we will provide you with opportunities to develop your career including support for making external funding applications.
This is a unique opportunity for outstanding researchers with real potential to drive forward their research career and develop their academic leadership skills.
You should have a PhD or relevant medical or health related fields or have equivalent experience. You will be highly motivated and hard-working with the ability to design, perform and analyse experiments with attention to detail and integrity. Experience in funding applications and/or publications, presentations and relevant experience in the field you wish to pursue is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills, written and oral, and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, are essential.
This is a 3-year post, and we are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities.
We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK.
