Post-doctoral Research Associate (Fixed Term)

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Post-doctoral Research Associate to join the Nixon-Abell laboratory at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research.  Our work sits at the interface between cell biology and molecular neuroscience.  We employ integrated experimental approaches, combining cutting-edge microscopy, biochemistry, omics, and iPSC-derived cell models to understand organelle interactions and dynamics in neurons.

This Wellcome Trust funded project aims to draw fundamental links between organellar communication pathways and neuronal activity. Specifically, the post-holder will focus on developing a CRISPR-based screen to understand the contribution of intra-organellar communication machinery in neuronal transmission. The candidate will form part of a vibrant and interdisciplinary team focussed on producing rigorous, innovative, and impactful research.

All applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant field and have significant research experience in culturing iPSC-derived neurons and/or CRISPR screening. Prior post-doctoral research experience is highly desirable. The successful applicant will be expected to work independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse team, with this project supported by a Research Assistant who the post-holder will work closely with and help supervise on a day-to-day basis.

This full-time fixed-term post is funded by the Wellcome Trust for up to one year. This position is graded on the University's Grade 7 scale, for which the salary range is £36,024-£44,263 per annum. The starting salary offered will be based on qualification and relevant skills acquired and will be determined by the funding available.

The Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR) is located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and it is a collaborative Institute at the interface between fundamental research and the clinic, with a mission to determine the molecular mechanisms of disease in order to advance human health.
