About the role
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional services manager to join the senior management team of the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics (DPMMS) as Business and Operations Manager.
About us
DPMMS (with the Statistical Laboratory as a sub-Department) is one of two closely-linked Departments within the Faculty of Mathematics based at the Centre for Mathematical Sciences. The Department hosts ~200 academics and researchers (including PhD students) and a small, friendly team of Professional Services staff.
About you
As Business and Operations Manager, you will support the Head of the Department in achieving strategic aims and objectives in relation to governance, policy and business operations in support of teaching and research, as well as providing administrative leadership which is pivotal to the day-to-day operation of the Department.
With previous experience of operational and strategic planning in a senior administrative role within Higher Education, or another complex setting, you will lead, manage, and motivate the Department's professional services staff who deliver key support services in postgraduate education, finance and grants administration, internships, communications, compliance and other operational areas.
You will also contribute to the leadership of the Faculty Shared Services including HR, undergraduate teaching and examinations, and facilities, in liaison with our sister Department, Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics.
You will ensure the effective and efficient governance of the Department including running Departmental and Faculty-level Committees. As the Degree Committee Secretary for the Faculty, you will oversee all aspects of postgraduate education.
