The Role

This role presents a flexible part-time opportunity for someone who wishes to utilise their insurance skills in the Higher Education Sector.

The main responsibilities of the role will include:

  • advising the University on all matters relating to insurance
  • arranging appropriate insurance protection
  • managing claims and maintaining records
  • ensuring compliance with insurance policies

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need to hold a relevant recognised professional qualification, and evidence of CPD within the insurance / risk arena. You will need substantial knowledge and experience in the insurance sector and experience of insurance administration in a large, complex and diverse organisation.

In addition, you will need excellent communication and negotiation skills and the ability to interact effectively with people at different levels within the University and outside organisations.

What we can offer

We currently offer a generous package including: Hybrid working with a mix of on-site and remote working (see job pack for details) and onsite parking when attending our Colchester campus. Generous holiday entitlement of 28 days, pro rata for part time staff (plus a further 8 bank holidays and an extra 3 days when closed during the Christmas period).

The University will support the Professional Development, utilising the apprenticeship levy where available.

About the team/ Section

The Insurance team sits within the Finance, Planning and Data Insight section which is responsible for managing the University's income and expenditure, ensuring we get value for money in all financial activity and that we comply with all statutory and regulatory requests.  The remit of the Section includes the management of risk and the Insurance Officer will play a key role in this area.
