About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, flexible and committed Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our group for a study focused on the development of novel drugs to treat autoimmune diseases. We seek a candidate to contribute to the delivery of high-quality research in a drug development project to characterize the actions of novel drug candidates at the pre-clinical level, including in vitro assays and in vivo testing. You will be integrated in all activities of the lab, Department and Institute, and will have the opportunity to contribute to several projects.
About You
A PhD (or be close to completion) in any Biological Sciences related discipline is required. You must show initiative, willingness to quickly acquire new skills/responsibilities and be a team player. Excellent attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to work independently are essential to succeed in this position, as are good communication and organizational skills. Experience in regular cellular and molecular biology techniques, in vivo models of disease and data analysis skills are required, and other skills like experience with signaling studies, luminescence based assays and tissue histology, will be highly valued.
About the Centre of Biochemical Pharmacology
The position will be based at the Centre for Biochemical Pharmacology, at the William Harvey Research Institute, part of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at QMUL. The successful candidate will join the laboratory of Dr. Montero-Melendez, focused on the development of novel therapies for the treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases. The group has a strong record in the field of drug development and industrial partnerships, particularly in the field of resolution of inflammation and melanocortin receptors as drug targets. The group is located in the emblematic Charterhouse Square Campus in central London.
