Edinburgh Napier University’s School of Applied Sciences is committed to providing an environment that recognises and supports research excellence.
Currently, the Psychology team are working in collaboration with the British Academy, Leverhulme Trust, and the Carnegie Trust of the Universities of Scotland on a new and captivating study aimed at investigating the key aspects of multisensory perception.
As such, we now have an opportunity for a Research Assistant to join the project and play an important role in the collection/management of data and assist with analysis and interpretation of results.
The role:
As Research Assistant you will have the opportunity to join a team of experienced researchers, who will be running a series of perceptual experiments investigating visual statistical learning and colour adaptation.
You will be in an ideal position to use your skills and experience of gathering data for studies to help set up these experiments, collect and manage data, and assist with interpreting results.
This process would involve recruiting candidates, contributing to the design and running of the appropriate perceptual experiments, making use of functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) and undertaking any other assignments as necessary in consultation with wider team.
The role will also give you the chance to use your strong written and verbal communication skills to contribute to the production of research reports and publications and present information on research progress/outcomes to various stakeholders.

Salary: £29,605 per annum, fixed (prorated to part time hours and fixed term contract)
Contract: Fixed Term - 32 weeks
Hours: 19.25 hours per week
