Background
The Department of Engineering is seeking candidates for lectureships in engineering, which are fixed term for 12 months. This is a cluster hire of seven positions. The department has recently seen increases in undergraduate student numbers and these positions are to support the associated teaching due to this growth. The department maintains a broad portfolio of engineering programmes and has recently reviewed these programmes to initially deliver general engineering that becomes increasingly specialized in later years. The lectureship positions are an opportunity to gain valuable teaching experience that is nationally recognised in delivering significant added value to our students.
Responsibilities
Interested candidates should align with at least one of the engineering subject areas as follows:
Candidates are encouraged to be clear in their areas of interest when making an application. These positions will undertake teaching activities at undergraduate level in appropriate engineering programmes within the department, as well as engage in the administration of the department.
Person Specification
Ideal candidates should have PhD in an engineering or related discipline and evidenced interest and/or experience in teaching. We also value candidates with strong communication skills, a positive attitude and an enthusiastic about supporting the learning of undergraduate engineering students. In return the department offers flexibility and support in developing the careers of successful candidates.
