The post
The Faculty wishes to recruit a Graduate Research Assistant to support the work of Dr Craig Beall. This full-time externally-funded post is available from 1st October 2024 on a fixed-term basis of initially one year, with a second year of funding to be released after a satisfactory progress report at nine months.
The successful applicant will perform cell culture-based research, assist with maintenance of a number of human cell lines including primary and stem cell models. The post will include performing 2D and 3D tissue culture using human cell models. There will also be work using organoid and organ-on-a-chip to develop advanced human-relevant in vitro models.
The post will include maintenance of laboratory records, maintaining stocks and ordering supplies, conducting assays and analyses and supporting the work of other team members working directly on the same project. There will be opportunities to attend conferences, if desirable. Some intercampus travel may be required.
We are also separately recruiting two postdoctoral research associates (advert reference P96791) in this round and all three will work together to deliver the objectives of the project.

About you
The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
Applicants will be educated to first degree level or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study or equivalent experience and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will be able to work to agreed timelines and milestones, maintain excellent written records and have excellent interpersonal skills to coordinate activities with the other team members directly involved in this project.
