About the role
The University of Leicester is seeking an experienced and strategic individual to lead our International Student Recruitment team. As Head of International Student Recruitment, you will be responsible for shaping and delivering the University’s global recruitment strategy. This includes undergraduate, postgraduate taught, postgraduate research, distance learning, and pathway programmes. Your role will involve developing data-driven, market-specific plans to ensure the University achieves its international recruitment targets while maintaining a diverse and high-quality student body.
Reporting to the Director of the Future Students Office, you will manage a team of over 20 professionals based both in the UK and across the globe, leading them in building pipelines, managing international relationships, and driving global brand engagement. You will oversee an international recruitment budget exceeding £500k and will collaborate closely with colleagues in marketing, admissions, and the broader University community to ensure alignment with the University’s 10-year internationalisation strategy launched in 2023.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the University's global standing, directly influencing its international presence and reputation through innovative recruitment and market engagement strategies.
About you
You will have significant experience in international student recruitment, ideally within the higher education sector, with a proven track record of achieving targets across multiple international markets. You should be educated to degree level or equivalent and possess detailed knowledge of global student recruitment markets, particularly in major markets such as India and China.
In addition to being a strong leader, capable of motivating and managing a dispersed team, you will have excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, allowing you to build and maintain relationships with international partners and key stakeholders. A data-driven mindset, the ability to translate complex demographic information into actionable strategies, and a deep understanding of UKVI compliance metrics are essential for this role.
If you are passionate about international education, skilled in strategic leadership, and committed to driving growth in a competitive global environment, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity at the University of Leicester.
