The School of Law seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Legal Theory and the Philosophy of Law.
The postholder will develop, lead and sustain research and scholarship of international standard and contribute to the delivery of an excellent student experience by delivering, organising and reviewing agreed teaching, assessment and administration processes to enhance learning and teaching in the School of Law.
The School of Law is ranked 43rd amongst law schools globally in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022. It is a centre for innovative world leading research and excellence in education. We are proud to be an international law school with a rich heritage. Law was one of the four original faculties established by the University upon its founding in 1451. The subject has been taught continuously since 1714. Today, we teach students from over 30 countries with a staff from across the world.
We welcome applications from candidates with a strong record in the research themes of Glasgow Legal Theory and especially those paying theoretical attention to key issues of sex, gender and race as they are affected by law in general or any of the particular areas of the legal doctrine.
The successful candidate will join the Glasgow Legal Theory Group, a leading community of legal theory in the UK and internationally. The group has strong interdisciplinary links with the department of philosophy and together they have established the Glasgow Law and Philosophy Network. The post will offer many opportunities to engage in research-led teaching and assume a leading role in our signature Joint Honours degree in Law & Philosophy.
This post is full time (35 hrs per week) and open ended.
