Innovative Vector Control Consortium (IVCC) is hosted by the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), and partners with third party organisations (industry and academic) to support the development of new vector control products in the fight against malaria.
We are looking to appoint a Finance Manager, who will have responsibility for providing a broad range of financial deliverables associated with IVCC’s grant and institution finances. Working closely with the IVCC and LSTM finance teams, the Finance Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with finance-related policies and procedures, financial monitoring and funder reporting.
Responsibilities include:
- Fully understand IVCC’s finance strategy, its purpose and internal/external stakeholders involved in its implementation
- Facilitate the integration of the new finance system (OneFinance) and work with the IVCC finance team, administrators and project managers to leverage the capabilities of the system
- Maintain a structure of project reporting that enables the tracking and reporting of activity against all projects and grants
- Facilitate the development of automated reports, strong financial controls and risk management
- Conduct a regular review of expenditure across designated accounts for corporate reporting, in conjunction with variance analysis by budget line, to confirm progress, gain understanding of any anomalies and take action to remedy any issues arising
- Report on IVCC’s cash flow in relation to designated projects
- Monitor funders’ financial requirements to ensure compliance
- Develop strong links to designated portfolio teams, departments and project teams to support their financial requirements
- Support the Senior Finance Manager in the delivery of annual budgets, quarterly reforecasting exercises and 5-year strategic planning
- Implement and maintain KPI’s and metrics to monitor performance against strategic objectives
- Support the finalisation of the financial aspects of grant submissions
- Support the production of the financial sections to a range of funder reporting publications, including annual funder and grant progress reports
- Undertake final reconciliations and close-down procedures on conclusion of individual grants and projects, in line with internal policies and procedures and funder obligations
The successful candidate:
- Qualified (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or qualified by experience
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent) or proven continuous professional development through working in a similar environment
- Ability to demonstrate a detailed knowledge of project based financial management
- Experience in long-term contract accounting, such as grant financial management or other project-based accounting
- Experience of managing and reporting on budgets within a dynamic budgetary framework involving a high degree of reforecasting and variance analysis
- Experience of producing non-statutory financial accounts and supporting narratives including presentational data, charts and written reports
