Quantitative Senior Researcher

About you:

An exceptional and ambitious researcher with excellent quantitative analytic skills and a curious mind looking to make a positive impact on the lives of neurodivergent people. You relish wrestling with complex and messy data to gain understanding and have the ability to translate that into actionable insights for a non-research audience. You are a confident verbal and written communicator able to write for different groups. You are able to work independently but keen to learn and develop your skills. It is more important that you are comfortable using a range of analytic techniques and tools and have a willingness to learn.

If you have worked in a university and found the pace too slow, the bureaucracy stifling and the focus on publication over making a difference frustrating, then this could be the perfect role!

What you’ll be doing:

Reporting to the Head of Research, Evaluation and Insight, you’ll lead a range of in-house research projects exploring the impact and value of Brain in Hand and supporting work with external partners developing research opportunities, and across all research projects related to quantitative analysis, including economic impact.

Your responsibilities:

• Work with the Head of Research, Evaluation and Insight to develop strategies to ensure that the research, evaluation and insight plans support and enable the growth of the business
• Lead research projects from end to end including study design, execution, analysis and write up
• Employ a range of advanced quantitative techniques including but not limited to statistical models using multivariate techniques, time series analysis and economic evaluations and modelling
• Translate complex quantitative data, analysis and models into clear and comprehensive insights for non-technical audiences
• Work closely with colleagues across the business, including product, commercial and marketing to support the use of data to drive the growth of the business
• Work with external partners to apply for grant funding opportunities and collaborate on research projects
• Explore innovative ways of demonstrating impact and value, keeping up to date with new quantitative approaches and building on our own learning
• Mentor and support colleagues to develop their analytical skills and research best practices

What you’ll bring to Brain in Hand:

We’d love someone to come on board who brings these skills and experiences to complement our talented team:

• Significant experience as a quantitative researcher and theoretician in academic, commercial or charity sector
• Proven track record of undertaking a range of quantitative analysis using statistical packages such as STATA, SPSS, SAS, R or equivalent
• Evidence of publication in academic journals, research papers and other
• Educated to Masters or PhD level or evidence of similar skill level
• Ability to learn quickly and respond well to feedback
• A passion to improve people’s lives and transform services through the adoption of digital solutions

Where you’ll work:

We trust our teams to work remotely, from anywhere in the UK.

You will use your judgement to convene your teams in person for team building and collaborative working as appropriate.

There will be times when you’ll need to travel to other UK locations for meetings or events, but these will be planned ahead of time.
