Lecturer/Senior Lecturer Analogue & Digital Design

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to join our dynamic team at the Institute of Creativity and Innovation (ICI). You will be responsible for teaching first-year students essential analogue and digital design skills. These units introduce students to a broad spectrum of core design techniques, preparing them for interdisciplinary design fields.

In these units, students will explore and master vital concepts, theories, methodologies, and processes, equipping them to become adept creatives. Past projects include creating fictional travelogues using bookbinding, printing, stencilling, and other analogue crafts. Digital projects have featured stop-motion animation, vector illustrations, gifs, and digital posters crafted with Adobe applications.

About the Department:

You will become part of an interdisciplinary department renowned for its emphasis on core skills applicable across various design disciplines. The modules you teach will foster interdisciplinary skills, enriching students’ knowledge base and enhancing their personal, creative, and theoretical abilities.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise in analogue and digital design.
  • A higher degree in a relevant art or design field. 
  • At least 2 years HE teaching experience (UK or similar preferred).

 We are looking for skilled creatives, designers, teachers, and researchers to join us in beautiful, sub-tropical, South-East China. The Institute of Creativity and Innovation (ICI) is a dual-degree institute founded by Xiamen University (XMU) and the University for the Creative Arts (UCA). We’re located on XMU’s Zhangzhou campus, which boasts a park-like atmosphere, with mountains on one side and Amoy Bay on the other. It’s a short commute to beautiful beaches, or the city of Xiamen, the multicultural centre of South-East China.

We have multiple requirements, and these will be permanent contracts. UCA offers a competitive compensation package that includes:

The right candidates will hold a higher degree in relevant art or design field along with professional experience of at least two consecutive years of higher education teaching or a teaching qualification. Active research in the field or ongoing professional practice are considered assets.
