The role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Project Development Manager to join the Campus Planning and Design Team to work on the future shaping of the University Campus. The Project Development Manager will work with the Senior Project Development Manager to identify, plan and organise emergent capital projects through Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Stages 0-1, to ensure that they fit within the University strategy.  

The role will lead on the scoping of key ‘emergent’ capital projects outlining likely timescales, costs and quality issues, as well as assisting the Senior Project Development Manager to develop a wholly integrated Campus Framework. They will work collaboratively as part of a multi-professional team (space planners, architects, data analysts, cost consultants etc) and engage with significant stakeholders to achieve clearly defined outcomes. They will also take a role in successfully transferring the projects onwards to the Capital Projects Team for project delivery.

What will you be doing?

The Project Development Manager will assist the development of the Campus Framework (under the guidance of the Senior Project Development Manager).  To ensure the feasibility of individual (sometimes complex) projects within the programme, assuring they can be delivered within agreed limits of time, cost and quality.

You will work with the team to identify development opportunities, advise on project-related objectives and obstacles, highlight deliverability or dependency issues, project/programme risks, identify projected costs and timescales and ensure high degrees of active engagement with stakeholders.   These include faculties, professional services, students/ the student voice and external/third party bodies amongst others. In addition the postholder will be responsible for attending a number of relevant Workstreams and Groups.

You should apply if

You are passionate about working within a complex higher educational organisation, scoping and developing multiple projects up to feasibility stage within a collaborative working environment.  You have experience of managing a range of capital projects and dealing with complex requests from end users.  You have excellent knowledge of project and programme management methodology, adaptability and strong stakeholder management.
