At the University of Salford, we are proud to be at the heart of the world-leading innovations around social change and economic development that have defined Salford and Greater Manchester since the industrial revolution and transformed it into the thriving city region it is today – a place where ideas are formed that shape the world.
The Operations Manager is a new and exciting opportunity to help drive forward this work. Based in the Research and Knowledge Exchange Directorate (RKED), you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the financial and administrative functions of the RKED.
What will the Role involve?
We are seeking someone with an excellent knowledge of research and knowledge exchange operations, as well as a proven track record of ensuring the provision of high-level customer service. You will ensure the provision of proactive support for project costing and pricing, ethics, specialist post-award management, internal fund management and monitoring, and supporting the Director with daily financial and operational tasks. The postholder will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of research and knowledge exchange support services, contributing to the university's financial sustainability.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues from all areas of Research and Knowledge Exchange in support of the University’s Research and Knowledge Exchange Delivery Plan, including ambitions to grow research income and enhance performance in the REF and KEF. You will work particularly closely with the RKE Leadership team to support the delivery of better value and greater efficiency, and ensure that mechanisms are in place for continuous assessment of service and quality standard.
What’s in it for you?
You will be based at our Peel Park campus which is just 2 km from Manchester city centre.
We offer a competitive salary and a range of employee benefits.
An impressive 32 days leave, plus bank holidays, additional time off at Christmas and the opportunity to buy even more.
We value diversity — in backgrounds and in experiences and we support a culture of both flexible and agile working.
