The post
The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Postdoctoral Research Associate/Graduate Research Assistant to contribute to a study evaluating ethnic differences in the performance of the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test in prostate cancer diagnosis. We are open to appointing at either one of the above job titles, please view the job descriptions for the differences, This position, funded by Wellcome Trust, is available immediately for up two years at 0.5 to 1 FTE, exact dates subject to funding. The successful applicant will lead or contribute to the management and analysis of multi-source linked electronic health records to assess the potential risks and benefits of PSA testing in men with suspected prostate cancer. Prior experience in data management and analysis is, therefore, essential.
We anticipate that the postholder will use this role not only to develop their own disciplinary skills and expand this research field but also to progress towards successful grant applications in the latter part of the appointment.

About you
The ideal candidate will have the essential skills to manage and analyse routinely gathered healthcare data that was not originally intended for research purposes. Additionally, they should be capable of presenting research progress and outcomes effectively, as well as communicating complex information both orally and in writing.
Candidates for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position will also be expected to develop research objectives, projects, and proposals, identify funding opportunities, and contribute to securing research funding.
Postdoctoral applicants must hold a relevant PhD (or be near completion for a Postdoctoral Research Associate) or possess equivalent qualifications/experience in a related field. The successful candidate will be a nationally recognised expert in cancer epidemiology, with the specialist knowledge necessary to develop research programs and methodologies.
Applicants for the Graduate Research Assistant position should have a first degree or equivalent qualification/experience in a relevant field. The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively, supervise others, and take on leadership responsibilities when needed.
