Starting salary from £48,149 per annum, dependent on skills and experience, with an annual increment up to £55,755 per annum.

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Finance and Planning Division as a Senior Financial Accountant, Compliance and Tax.

This post offers the opportunity for an outstanding candidate to play a pivotal role in the delivery of the University’s financial external reporting requirements, while also contributing to internal audit processes and risk management activities.

Working closely with the Associate Director of Financial Accounting, you will help ensure compliance with financial regulations and support the development of internal financial procedures and controls.

You will also contribute to the University’s tax compliance by supporting the preparation of corporate tax returns, assisting with VAT reporting, and advising on the tax aspects of international projects and collaborations. Working with colleagues across the institution and external advisers, you will help ensure the University meets its obligations efficiently and accurately. This is a great opportunity to build specialist knowledge in a complex and evolving area of university finance.

You must hold an accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CTA, CIPFA, CIMA, or equivalent, together with experience in a complex accounting environment. Experience in financial accounting (including statutory reporting and tax compliance) is essential, whilst having operated within a large or regulated organisation would be an advantage.

This full-time post is available from 1 July 2025 on an indefinite basis.

UEA offers a variety of flexible working options and although this role is advertised on a full-time basis, we are happy to accept applications from individuals who would prefer a flexible working pattern including compressed working hours over a 5 day working week, slightly less than 1 FTE and/or hybrid working. Details of preferred hours should be stated in the personal statement and will be discussed further at interview.

Further information on our great benefits package, including 44 days annual leave inclusive of Bank Holidays and additional University Customary days (pro rata for part-time), can be found on our benefits page.

Closing date: 23 May 2025

The University holds an Athena Swan Silver Institutional Award in recognition of our advancement towards gender equality.
