We have a great opportunity for a talented Research Associate to join the new EPSRC IAA project, "Discontinuous carbon fibre composites manufactured from recycled prepreg waste for high-volume aerospace structures." This collaborative project involves the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering, the AMRC, and GKN Aerospace.
We are looking for a skilled researcher to join our team, specialising in composite manufacturing, with a focus on compression moulding. The ideal candidate will possess a strong laboratory background, including in-depth knowledge of thermoset composite rheology and cure kinetics, and experience with oscillatory and squeeze flow rheometry. A PhD in engineering or materials science is required, along with a comprehensive understanding of composite science. You will be a self-starter, creative in your approach, and adaptable to changing project needs, while also thriving in a collaborative team environment.
Excellent communication skills are essential for effective collaboration and knowledge sharing with numerous project partners in Sheffield and further afield. This role is primarily based at the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering, but will require occasional travel to the AMRC and other external organizations to access specialized equipment.
