Role Summary
We are seeking to appoint an experienced systematic reviewer to join our multi-disciplinary Biostatistics, Evidence Synthesis, Test Evaluation and Modelling team (BESTEAM) in the Department of Applied Health Science. The postholder will work within the NIHR-funded Warwick-Birmingham Screening Evidence Synthesis Group (ESG), conducting and publishing evidence maps, rapid reviews or systematic reviews of clinical effectiveness, test accuracy, and cost-effectiveness, as required by the UK National Screening Committee (UK NSC). The research undertaken will directly inform the UK NSC and national policy and has international influence on how screening is delivered. The successful candidate will join the TAP (Test and Prognosis) group within the BESTEAM team and will work in close collaboration with colleagues at Warwick Screening.
About you
Applicants will possess a relevant Masters, PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a health-related subject, sociology, psychology, or equivalent discipline. Applicants should demonstrate specialist knowledge and experience of undertaking, and timely completion of, systematic and/or rapid reviews, preferably in the area of medical test evaluation or screening. Experience of synthesising quantitative data across studies is required.
The TAP group is internationally renowned for its expertise in evaluating medical tests, providing methodological guidance and statistical expertise in the design and analysis of applied health research projects and developing methodology, with strong international collaborations. TAP is closely linked to Cochrane and has been the editorial base for Cochrane diagnostic test accuracy systematic reviews since 2006. The team has provided methods support to the WHO, the NIHR Diagnostic Evidence Co-operatives Methods Group and the NIHR HTA Programme. TAP co-leads the Data, Diagnostics and Decision Tools theme of the NIHR Birmingham Biomedical Research Centre.
