The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the LSHTM Electronic Health Records research group for a medical statistician/epidemiologist to work on a highly innovative research collaboration with University of Hong Kong, funded by Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC); offering an early career EHR scientist a unique opportunity to develop a transnational research portfolio.
We wish to appoint to a full-time position in the Department of Non-Communicable Disease Epidemiology at the LSHTM. This is a collaboration with the research group at the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy, HKU. The appointee will create dummy datasets for collaborators developing analytic codes to investigate the benefits and harms of medications.
Candidates must have a doctoral degree (or be within 3 months of anticipated completion of a PhD) in medical statistics or epidemiology and experience of conducting independent research using routinely collected electronic health records in UK for example using the Clinical Practice Research Datalink Aurum. Candidates must also have proven ability using statistical software for managing and analysing data using STATA/SAS/R. Further particulars are included in the job description.
The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed term until 31 October 2025. The post is funded by the ITC, Hong Kong and available from 01 June 2025.
The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale, Grade 6 in the range £45,097 - £51,156 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
